Episcopal Church built before the Civil War, known to have been occupied by horses of Union Soldiers

The Church of the Apostles was founded in 1848 with an original list of parishioners consisting of 8 families and their slaves. St. Michael’s Church (located in Charleston) supplied the first altar and pulpit, which are both still in use today. The cemetery surrounding the church contains the crypts and tombstones of many famous SC men and women. Feel free to enter, meditate or pray during regular church office hours (located next door). Call ahead for guided or self-guided tours.
